ODF Plus Manuals under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Phase II Released
Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and the Minister of State for Jal Shakti & Food Processing Industries, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel released the ODF Plus Manuals under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Phase -II at an event on 28th July 2021 organized by Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS). The launched manuals pertain to key components of ODF Plus (Greywater Management, Plastic Waste Management, Faecal Sludge Management, Biodegradable Waste Management and IEC) and provides detailed information on technologies, technical specifications of assets, estimated costs and possible O&M arrangements. DDWS has developed manuals to support states, districts, and rural local bodies in implementing solid and liquid waste management initiatives.
Swachhata Pakhwada Highlights
Launched in April 2016, this is an initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Swachhata Pakhwada is inspired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi's vision to engage all Union Ministries and Departments in Swachhata-related activities, thereby making Swachhata "everyone's business".

  • Awareness programme to discourage use of plastics especially single use plastics in office premises through audio visual messages
  • Special campaign on water conservation and cleanliness
  • National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, Goa organised number of Pakhwada activities like plantation drive, Post Covid-19 Awareness, Cleanliness and Webinar on Solar Energy
  • Masks and Sanitizers were distributed to the Housekeeping staff to encourage them to follow COVID appropriate behaviours and guidelines

  • Oil and Natural Gas Corporation- Online competition on Swachhata theme, distribution of Hygiene Kits, Jute bags, Swachhata awareness through social media
  • Gas Authority of India Ltd.- Webinar on Swachhata, participated by Olympian Anuradha Biswal and distribution of masks and Swachhata kits to the public
  • Numaligarh Refinery Limited- Installation of the drinking water plant, online Essay competition on awareness generation and display of Swachhata activities on social media. Promoted paper bags and distributed Covid hygiene kits
  • Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.- Cleanliness drives through rallies in villages, competitions on the themes of Swachh Bharat
  • Indian Oil Corporation Limited- Online poster competition on Swachhata innovation “Best out of Waste initiative”
  • Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited - Truck marathon, with truck drivers to spread out the Swachhata messages throughout India. Organised Swachhata Quiz competition
  • Engineers India Limited- Cleanliness Drive to promote Swachhata, Installation of Drinking Water Plant & VC on Swachhata theme with the School Management Committee
