Capacity Strengthening for Sustainability
The capacity strengthening initiative of the D/o Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) was launched on 27th July, in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The initiative will create a pool of 2800 field trainers in its initial trainings, who will reach out to around 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats across the country.

From ODF to ODF-Plus
DDWS organised a two-day national workshop on ODF-Plus and Water Conservation during July 12-13, 2019 in New Delhi. ODF-Plus includes ODF-Sustainability and Solid and Liquid Waste Management.

Swachhata Pakhwada Highlights
July, 2019
Launched in April 2016, this is an initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Swachhata Pakhwada is inspired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi's vision to engage all Union Ministries and Departments in Swachhata related activities, thereby making Swachhata "everyone's business”.

- Lecture session organised on water conservation and plastic waste management
- Exhibition on creative use of waste material
- Children participated in Swachhata play and slogan making competition and best performing students were awarded

- Inauguration of school toilets, e-waste projects, setting up of waste management units, flower waste management cum perfume units and rural waste based biogas plant

- Adoption of schools, slums and villages to maintain Swachh environment
- Awareness programmes on Swachhata theme, nukkad natak, walkathon, pond cleaning, solar light installation

Jal Shakti Abhiyan
Jal Shakti Abhiyan - a campaign for water conservation and water security, was launched nationwide on 1st July 2019. The campaign will run through the monsoon season till 30th November, 2019. The focus of the campaign is on accelerating focused interventions in water stressed districts and blocks.
