Commencement of SHS 2018
The PM started the two week long campaign through a video interaction with the swachhata champions and groups, followed by shramdaan and an interaction with the students of Baba Sahib Ambedkar Higher Secondary School, Delhi.

Swachhata Hi Seva 2018
Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2018 was celebrated from 15th September to 2nd October 2018, re-intensifying the jan andolan to realise the vision of a clean India. More than 20 crore people participated in this year’s SHS. A short film profiling Swachhata Hi Seva, sung by Indian Idol finalist for the Swachh Bharat Mission, was later presented before a global audience at MGISC.

MGISC 2018
SHS 2018 culminated with the Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Convention, organized from 29th September to 2nd October, 2018-bringing together 70 countries and 160 international delegates, including 55 Sanitation Ministers. The four day global event was inaugurated by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind and the culminating event was graced by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres.The highlights of the convention are showcased here.

Swachhata Pakhwada Highlights
Launched in April 2016, this is an initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Swachhata Pakhwada is inspired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's vision to engage all Union Ministries and Departments in Swachhata-related activities, thereby making Swachhata "everyone's business".

- 13.81 Lakh NSS volunteers took part in swachhata activities and organized door to door campaign in 10,592 adopted villages/slums.
- 16.35 Lakh person hours were devoted to create awareness in 2,682 cities and 27,286 villages. 17.5 Lakh people were made aware about health and hygiene.
- Internatiional Youth Day celebration through slogan/essay writing, painting competitions on swachhata.
- All SAI (Sports Authority of India) & LNIPE (Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education) centres organized waste segregation, cleaning water bodies, tree plantation and Swachhata Runs.
- Tree plantation campaign was carried out with national level athletes like Ms. Sakshi Malik

- 2.01 crore students wrote postcards to the Prime Minister describing their current and future contribution towards swachhata
- 11.82 crore students took the swachhata pledge
- 3.43 crore students participated in swachhata painting competition and essay writing competition
- 3.50 crore students took up swachhata shramdaan activities
- 9.08 lakh schools participated in Swachhata Pakhwada

- Farmer's orientation on WASH by sanitation officers
- Cleanliness drive in the nearby areas by NIPERs (National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research) / Pharma PSUs / BPPI / Pharma Industry Associations/Medical Devices Associations
- Both Minister and Minister of State gave special awareness message on Swachh Bharat
- Minister of State led Swachhata Shramdaan and workshop on plastic management
- NIPER Ahmedabad adopted five government schools for better sanitation facilities
- Sanitary napkin incinerators were installed in the office toilets in New Delhi

- Students and teachers of Harbour Hr. Sec. school, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu took part in the swachhata awareness rally around the Chidambaranar Port- Trust colony
- Cleaning activities, street play at service station, diesel loco workshop, hospital, and operational areas.
- Door to door meetings at Salagramapuram to inspire behavior change on sanitation by medical department officials
- Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust organized swachhata drives at hospital and organized wall painting/ quiz contest for school students; and essay competition and slogan competition for their employees
- Cleaning activities carried out at wharves, baggage jetty and outside office premises of hospitals by the employees of Cochin Port

- A seminar was organised with all the municipalities of Mumbai city to provide a platform of interaction regarding the cleanliness drive
- School Children, District & State Tourism Dept. took part in swachhata drive from Kirti Mandir to Beach Front (Chowpatty), Porbandar, Gujarat
- Institute of Hotel Management Hyderabad & GHMC workers organised cleanliness drive in Vidyanagar
- A stretch of 500m of Ganga Ghat area was cleaned in Patna and Bodhgaya by India Tourism, Patna

- Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal did shramdaan at Old Delhi, New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway stations
- The ministry observed Community day on 22nd September, 4.25 lakh employees participated in cleanliness
- The railway employees, pensioners, families observed Swachhata Hi Seva
- Swachh Bharat logo pasted outside all coaches
