Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2019
Gearing towards achieving the goals of universal sanitation coverage, improved cleanliness and the elimination of open defecation by 2nd October 2019, DDWS launched SSG 2019 - the largest rural sanitation survey to take place across the country.The exercise will rank all states
and districts in India on Swachhata parameters and citizen feedback.

Freedom from Open Defecation Week
In the run up to the 73rd Independence Day on 15th August 2019, the Freedom from Open Defecation Week (Khule Mein Shuach se Aazadi Saptah) was celebrated in vilages across the country with active participation by the community and state/district administrations.

Swachhata Pakhwada Highlights
Launched in April 2016, this is an initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Swachhata Pakhwada is inspired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi's vision to engage all Union Ministries and Departments in Swachhata related activities, thereby making Swachhata "everyone's business”.

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports

(1st - 15th August)
- National Service Scheme (NSS) units organised ralies, depicting various messages of cleanliness across the country.
- NSS units dedicated their services towards cleaning of Public Health Centres, Railway Stations,Bus Stations etc.
- Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) organised country wide Swachhata ralies and mass Shramdaan activities.
- NSS and NYKS took part in plantation drives, and hand washing and awareness programmes in schools, anganwadis, hospitals and panchayat bhawans.
- NSS and NYKS units organised Swacchata workshop on Handwashing, Health and Hygiene issues.

(1st - 15th August)
- Workshop organised on waste segregation at household levels.
- Senior officers visited different state offices to oversee Swachhata activities.
- Anelocution competition on Swachhata was organised among all staff and officers.
- Students from Eklavya Adarsh Awasiya Vidyalaya, took part in campus cleaning and tree plantation drives.

- Ministry organised Slogan writing competition on Swachhata theme.
- Swachhata awareness posters displayed at different locations.
- Effective disposal of e-waste items.
- Extensive cleanliness drive organised at Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Manesar Campus.

- Organised awareness programme on e-Waste management for the employees at registered offices and other locations.
- Organised Slogan writing and Essay competition on the topics of Swachhata.
