Launch of Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2021
The Minister of State, Jal Shakti Ministry, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel presided over the e-launch of Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2021 under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Phase-II at an event organized by Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti on 9th September 2021. The event was attended by Shri Pankaj Kumar, Secretary, Jal Shakti Ministry, Shri Arun Baroka, Additional Secretary, DDWS, other DDWS officials, media persons and virtually by senior SBMG officials from States/UTs.
The Minister of State highlighted that the initiative of undertaking SSG during Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is a very significant step and states are the biggest stakeholders in this. Shri Patel said that Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has always stressed on the strength and importance of Swachh Bharat Mission in changing millions lives.
The Minister of State added that the findings of the Survey by a third party agency will help us in bridging the gaps by identifying challenges on ground and working with all States/UTs. The citizen feedback will strengthen the program further. The SSG 2021 mobile App will also be made available in major local Indian languages. The survey will be well monitored and complimented with frequent field visits.
The Minister of State, Jal Shakti also released the SSG 2021 Protocol document, SSG 2021 Dashboard and the mobile App for Citizens feedback at the launch event.
Swachhata Pakhwada Highlights
Launched in April 2016, this is an initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Swachhata Pakhwada is inspired by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi's vision to engage all Union Ministries and Departments in Swachhata-related activities, thereby making Swachhata "everyone's business".

Ministry of Education
(1st - 15th September)
(Department of School Education and Literacy)
  • To enhance the creativity of students, "Best out of waste" competition was organized at various schools
  • Over 5 Lakh schools had participated in handwashing drive
  • Organised special campaigns on Tree plantation and cleanliness in more than 5 Lakh schools
  • Students from across the country participated in mega Swachhata awareness campaigns
  • Over 3.83 Lakh schools participated in Green School Drive Day to eliminate the use of Single Use Plastic (SUP)
  • Water conservation drive was organised at over 4.34 Lakh schools
  • Various competitions on Swachhata theme were organised across the country and the best performers were awarded

Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers
(1st - 15th September)

  • Hon'ble Minister of Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers gave Swachh Bharat Awareness message for all
  • A webinar was organised on eliminating the use of Single Use Plastic
  • Carried out cleanliness drives at various locations
  • Swachhata awareness disseminated through the banners and posters
  • Organised various competitions on Swachhata theme and award distributed to the best performers

Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways
(16th - 30th September)
  • Major cleanliness and shramdaan drives were organised at various shipping yards, ports across the country
  • Mega Tree plantation drive
  • Students from Loganatha Narayanasamy Government Arts College, Ponneri were engaged for Wall Art on Cleanliness
  • Banners and Posters displayed at strategic location with Swachhata messages
  • Organised Swachhata awareness training programmes on Solid and Liquid Waste Management

Ministry of Railways
(16th - 30th September)
  • Swachhata Pakhwada organised at various Railway Stations of India to raise Swachhata awareness through IEC activities like Nukad Natak, short plays, Swachhata rallies etc.
  • Cleanliness drive organised at various locations of the country, including Railway Stations and Railway colonies
  • Swachh Aahaar initiative- Surprise inspections made by the senior officers at various Railway Stations canteen/food courts and Train Pantry bougies to check the food hygiene
  • Water Samples taken for bacteriological and chemical analysis from various Railway Stations
  • Swachhata competitions and award distributions at various Railway Stations and Railway colonies

Ministry of Tourism
(16th - 30th September)
  • Faculties and Students of IHM Bhopal initiated the awareness drive regarding the cleanliness at various tourist locations
  • IHM Bhopal organised an online Debate on "Should Cleanliness and sanitation be made fundamental duty" and Online Awareness Campaign on "Creating Best Out of Waste"
  • Webinar on Work-place Hygiene Campaign and Role of students in the cleanliness
  • Displayed banners and posters to disseminate Swachhata messages at various locations
  • Organised various competitions on Swachhata theme
  • Distribution of Swachhata Kits and cloth bags
