Swachh Bharat World Toilet Day (WTD) Contest 9th to 19th November 2018
MDWS organised a 10-day Swachh Bharat World Toilet Day Contest, which generated mass mobilisation around Swachhata in the run up to WTD 2018, across the country. The winning District Collectors and SBM officials will travel to Mumbai for an interaction with Swachh Bharat Ambassador, Akshay Kumar.

WTD 2018 (19th November) special event
In a WTD 2018 special event, CEO NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant and Secretary, MDWS, Parameswaran Iyer, emptied a toilet pit to dispel myths around twin-pit toilet technology and participated in a “Toilet Parliament” organised in the village of Vajidpur in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

Swachh Bharat Sustainable Sanitation Workshops
As part of the Swachh Bharat Sustainable Sanitation Workshops, four regional meetings were organised in Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata and Nainital, covering a range of sustainability indicators. The final workshop in ATI Nainital brought together Swajal teams from across the country, to share best practices, and strategize for the way forward in drinking water management.

Swachhata Pakhwada Highlights
November, 2018
Launched in April 2016, Swachhata Pakhwada is an initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission. It is inspired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's vision to engage all Union Ministries and Departments in Swachhata-related activities, thereby making Swachhata "everyone's business".

Ministry of Civil Aviation
(1st-15th November)
- Interactive sessions on cleanliness and waste management were organised across the country
- Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Civil Aviation (MoCA) awarded Pawan Hans Ltd (PHL), Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA) for being the three best performing organizations under MoCA during this Swachhata Pakhwada
- PHL adopted a road in front of their Corporate Office, on a cost sharing basis, towards regular cleaning and proper drain management in association with Noida Authority
- Students and Gram Pradhans of nearby villages were invited for an exhibition on Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) System in IGRUA
- Swachhata march was organized by employees of AAI, Ahmedabad to make the Airport a Plastic Free Zone

- Swachh Bharat Startup grand challenge was organised and 8 awards were given for innovative solutions in the areas of Sanitation, Waste Management, Water and Waste Water Management and Air management
- Swachhata workshop was organised to sensitize the cleaning staff
- Departmental staff undertook shramdaan activities to keep the surroundings clean
- Swachhata awareness campaign was undertaken through display of banners and posters

- In 208 Postal Offices, Swachhata message “Discourage the use of plastic carry bags” was affixed on postal articles
- Swachhata awards were given to staff in 44 Postal offices. Cleanliness audit was conducted in 41 Postal offices
- Around 5700 postal staff participated in Shramdaan activities and 115 Swachhata workshops were conducted
- School awareness activities were conducted at North MCP Co-Ed, Model School, Chandni Chowk, New Delhi to sensitise students on WASH aspects
- Special cleanliness drive was undertaken by Telephone Regularity Authority of India

- Swachhata March was organised to promote cleanliness and its benefits among the public through slogans and banners
