Asian-Pacific Ministers at Finance Ministers’ Meeting 2020 to Discuss WASH-related Issues, 2nd Dec, 2020
Asian and the Pacific Ministers of Finance met virtually to explore investment in universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene on 2nd December 2020. From India, Hon’ble Minister of Jal Shakti Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat participated in this meeting. The Finance Ministers’ Meeting was organised by Sanitation and Water for All (SWA).
Asian-Pacific Ministers discussed on better utilization of the existing financial capital and attracting additional resources for the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector.
The objective of the SWA Asia and the Pacific FMM was to develop and strengthen partnerships with finance ministers in the region for smart investments in water, sanitation and hygiene. The meetings underscored the crucial role of water, sanitation and hygiene to the Asian economy, population and environment during and after COVID-19.
Swachhata Pakhwada Highlights
Launched in April 2016, this is an initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Swachhata Pakhwada is inspired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi's vision to engage all Union Ministries and Departments in Swachhata-related activities, thereby making Swachhata "everyone's business".

Ministry of Defence
(1st - 15th December)
(D/ Defence, D/o Defence Production, Defence Research & Development Organisation & D/o Ex-Servicemen Welfare)
  • The countrywide massive cleanliness drive was organised by NCC and different Defence establishments to raise Swachh Bharat awareness
  • Curbing the use of Single Use Plastic and the anti-Plastic drive was run at various places
  • Plogging events were organised at various locations
  • Training programs organised on Source Segregations, Hand wash technique, Composting etc.
  • Swachhata awareness messages were displayed through banners, posters, wall paintings, events, beach cleaning, rallies etc.
  • Essay Writing and Drawing Competitions were conducted in various defence units and best performers were awarded

Ministry of Home Affairs
(1th - 15th December)
  • Assam Rifles organised Bike rally in Delhi to spread COVID-19 appropriate Behaviour and Swachhata awareness
  • Assam Rifles organised Health check-up camps in the remote village of Arunachal Pradesh
  • COVID-19 awareness camps were organised at various locations
  • Plogging events were organised against Plastic waste
  • Swachhata competitions were organised

Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare
(16th - 31st December)
  • Training programs were organised on composting methods and segregations
  • Kisan Diwas was celebrated on Swachhata theme and during this occasion, many farmers were honoured
  • Cleanliness and sanitation drive was conducted at various villages through rallies, events, posters, award distribution etc.
  • Awareness events were organised to disseminate COVID-19 appropriate behaviour messages
  • Trainings and workshops were organised to create awareness on water harvesting for agriculture and horticulture application
  • Clean-Green technologies and organic farming practices in kitchen gardens of residential colonies were promoted
  • Quiz, Essay & Drawing competition for school children, villagers were organised and the best performers were awarded

Ministry of Minority Affairs
(16th - 31st December)
  • Cleanliness drive was undertaken in the CGO complex premises in and around Pt. Deendayal Antyodaya Bhawan
  • Under the COVID-19 appropriate behaviour Mask, Sanitizers, Soap and other safety-related products were distributed
