Launch of ad on twin pit toilets

In the advertisement, launched under the Darwaza Band campaign, the actors share the merits of twin pit toilets, including being cost-effective, easy to use, and generating safe and valuable compost.

The CAG empties a toilet pit in Pune

With an aim to break the social taboo and stigma around cleaning toilet pits, the CAG, Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, emptied compost from a pit in Daund district of Maharashtra.

Launched in April 2016, this is an initiative under the SBM, inspired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi's vision to engage all Union Ministries and Departments in Swachhata-related activities, thereby making Swachhata "everyone's business".

A ‘no polythene’ drive, and ban on plastic in Shram Shakti Bhawan was part of the initiative.

Ministry of Science & Technology

Workshops on cleanliness and waste management, including a campaign on discouraging plastic usage were organised.

Various activities such as drawing competitions, debates, quizzes, essay writing, speeches and Nukkad Nataks were organised for awareness generation around Swachhata.

Sitamarhi pulls off ambitious pit-digging campaign

In an effort aimed at boosting the momentum of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) in Bihar, people of Sitamarhi district came together to dig over 1 lakh toilet pits as a part of a "Gaddha Khodo Shauchalay Banao" campaign. This effort is likely to go on to make the district ODF.
